Training programmes conducted so far can be classified into two broad categories.
1. Sponsored Programmes : Programmes sponsored by various Ministries, Departments, Agencies etc. including those of Personnel; Public Grievances and Pensions, Ministry of Rural Development and Ministry of Home Affairs Government of India; National Institute of Urban Affairs Govt. of India; Information Technology Department, J&K Govt.; Women Development Corp. J&K Govt.
2. Training Programmes : designed and conducted by the Institute. The Institute disseminates information through periodic publication of IMPA Newsletter, seminars, workshops, conferences, endowment and lecturers on contemporary themes and issues.

IMPA has been regularly organizing Workshops/Seminars, Conferences and in-house presentations on issues relevant to the State administration. The purpose of holding these events is to provide a platform for reviewing and analysing the performance of various constituents of the state administration against standard benchmarks.

Off-Campus and outreach Activities
IMPA also conducts a number of programmes at district levels with the view to train local functionaries of the Government in the areas of e-literacy, Rural Development and Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Swayamsidha implemented by Women Development Corporation. These training programmes were conduct at Jammu, Udhampur, Doda, Kathua, Rajouri, Poonch, Srinagar, Badgam, Anantnag, Baramullah, Palwana Kupwara ,Basholi and R.S.Pura.
